I totally get what you mean with the elanor rigby thing. I do like it though, surprisingly.
Quite the contrary, I feel that Brian Eno has ruined Coldplay. This appears to be the second installment in Coldplay's new tradition of overreaching. Few songs on X&Y succeeded in moving me, and if this song is representative of the LP then it appears, despite grandiose and melodramatic production (or perhaps because of), Coldplay will again deliver an album that falls flat on my ears.
I didn't think it was possible for Coldplay to improve "Violet Hill" or "A Spell, A Rebel Yell" - they are amazing. "Viva La Vida" took my breath away - it's magnificent! Coldplay is back and better than ever.

Awesome song. I love it. I didn't like Violet Hill at first but grew to appreciate it.
This song though (Viva la vida) wasn't too hard to be happy about at first play.
