Never mind the talk of backlash, have you heard the Vampire Weekend record? Find me something better to listen to in these horrible last months of winter and I'll give you a shiny dime. The thudding pulse and playful melody of Campus, The No Doubt-esque A-Punk, the straight-world groove of Mansard Roof and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, they all practically melt the snow and ice right off your windshield.

Seriously, forget about the haters, just enjoy this quite wonderful record. Let's delve briefly into what the problem is: The cd is available at Target (for a special price); I'm told, though I wouldn't know, that the band is already being featured on MTV, and flagship Brit Music Pub; NME is practically asking the band to prom. So, how does this affect you? It doesn't! Not yet, at least. Sure, in the next year we could see the gross amounts of over-exposure that have made many before VW fall to the Indie wayside, but for now just go buy the record (at your local indie store, if possible), and wait for June.
