Subpop opens digital download store

Adapting to new media and technologies is the only way record labels will survive. People get paid to sit in an office and do exclusively this, and whoever subpop's guy or gal is deserves a high five. Sub Pop has given the finger to iTunes and opened their own digital download store to house the labels current releases and eventually out of print back catalog, singles, and ep's.

An LP will run you $9.90 for 192 kbps mp3's drm-free. The best part: if and when subpop upgrades the bitrate of what they offer, adds bonus tracks, etc. You can simply log in to your account, download the new and improved version and off you go! Additionally there is no limit to how many times you can re-download your stuff once you buy it, so hard drive crashes are no longer anything to be scared of!

Read all about it from Subpop here.
See the current downloadable catalog here.

Good on 'em. They've always had good free stuff up as well. Excellent, excellent, excellent!
