A Foggy Day

It's 6:24 a.m. in Nashville as I'm typing this, and I haven't gone to bed yet. My inconsistent work schedule and my TERRIBLE insomnia allows me nights like this where I stay up endlessly sorting things out, starting things over, putting things away, and generally just being. It's not fun, but the perk of this situation is that I get so caught up in being awake and doing whatever the time-passer is at the moment that I genuinely forget morning will come. This frame of mind provided for a pleasant surprise when the sun peaked out from behind the gray night-time clouds to reveal a very calm and foggy morning in Nashville, the first bird chirping, but the houses still sound asleep, just enough daylight to be morning rather than night. I'd like to go for a drive now, I'm not sure where I'd go or how long I'd be staying, or even what I'd be doing once I got there, but it seems right. These are the first three songs I threw on my iPod's On-the-Go playlist this morning. I encourage you to mix them in with your own: I think it will make your morning commute a lot more enjoyable.

This was a great post to wake up to. Nice writing, Caleb. Now I'm actually going to go back to sleep, because I was awake almost as late as you were.

Hey, I sent you an email about some death cab tracks. Not quite sure if you got it. I'm not a huge fan of Casino Blues. Not very Gibbardy, and doesn't fit his vocal style. I like the Thin Ice song. Or what I can make of it (thanks to the sound quality of youtube videos). In regards to song I've been looking for, I'm on the hunt for KCRW and KEXP tracks from DCFC. The Rolling Stone session of Brothers... would be cool too. I know how big a DC fan you are, so I figure you could dig 'em up from your iTunes library somewhere.

Just hoping that by posting a few at a time you stay under the RIAA radar? ;-)
