Ben Gibbard @ 5th Floor Coffee House, Bellingham, WA. 1/19/01

Thursday I posted my favorite show of 2006. Over the next few days I am gonna try to post a few of my favorite shows period, as a christmas present to all of you.

In January of 2001 Ben Gibbard played his first public solo show since the formation of Death Cab for Cutie, four years prior. The show was at the 5th Floor Coffeehouse in Bellingham, WA. Ben talks alot about how nervous he is and even has Nick (Death Cab's bassist) sit on the stage with him for a few songs. The setlist could not get any better. It was the debut of his famed Backstreet Boys cover and more importantly one of the only acoustic preformances of songs like Your Bruise, Two Cars, Rules Broken, No Joy in Mudville and Line of Best Fit. The show was comprised of Ben with an acoustic guitar and a drum machine on Rules Broken (A song from Ben's All-Time Quarterback project)

Thanks a lot, I always love new shows.... Just a note (and I hate to budge) the track We've Got the Facts and We're voting yes is actually Title Track, it's not a title track per se, but that's the name of it...

Actually Adam that is what the band frequently refers to the song as. It is indeed the title track to the album we have he fact's and we're voting yes. And it often appears on setlists as such rather than the name "ttile track"

Thanks for the heads up though!
Caleb

I really appreciate this, ben is one of my favorite vocalists. I just wanted to tell you that "They Don't Know" is not working, but thank you for the rest soooo much.

Thanks so much for this! I was trying to decide if I should splurge and see Ben when he does his solo tour this May, but I didn't have any idea what his solo shows are like. Much obliged!

I actually go to this school, and the venue is actually the 'underground coffee house' (as the poster indicates)...nice post though, I wish he comes back soon (pretty unlikely, but considering he used to go here it would be cool).

I was at this show way back when. This certainly brings back a lot of memories of old Bellingham days. Thanks for posting it. For some reason I can't get the opportunity to get the songs on my hard drive, I can only listen to them. Any help would be great!!

The links are still not working. Is there an alternate location for the files or can they be fixed? Would love to grab this great show.
